To protect the delicate ecology of our forest, the cabin features a clean and completely odorless composting toilet.

• Indoor Convenience: It is entirely self-contained inside the cottage. If you need to use it in the middle of the night, you don't even have to put on shoes or fully wake yourself up—everything is right there in the warmth of the cabin so you can drift right back to sleep.

• Comfort: Looks and feels just like using a standard toilet, simply without the water.

• How It Works: Just add a few scoops of sawdust (sourced from a local apple-ladder sawmill) after each use.

What to Know Before You Pack

• The Walk-In: Park your car and walk your gear in via a forest trail (approximately 5-8 min walk). Pack light or use backpacks. We are happy to provide support with a Gorilla cart if needed.

• Power & Ambiance: Lit by the warm glow of battery-powered LED flame lamps. A portable Jackery power station is also provided to charge devices.

• Outdoor Comfort: Pack bug spray! We highly recommend bringing a Thermacell device to keep seasonal Maine mosquitoes at bay.

• Dog Policy: We are happy to welcome up to one dog for a flat $50 pet fee. To protect our forest ecosystem and ensure a seamless stay, dogs must remain on a leash outdoors and are not permitted on the bed—we also highly recommend active tick prevention for your pet's comfort and safety.

However, you are never truly isolated; we are nearby and always happy to share local insider tips or offer a helping hand with whatever you need.
